Kat- Business and Workforce Director
Katherine (Kat) brings 20 years of educational experience and immense passion for outdoor learning. From finances to staffing and safeguarding, Kat keeps the fire burning, as well as our founder in check, always armed with a spreadsheet and a smile!
Chuck- Founder
Chuck (aka Paul Norris) brings 20 years of experience and bold ideas to life with a big dose of heart and a love for community, education, and the great outdoors. From school halls and council rooms to crackling campfires, he rallies people together through hands-on action and get-it-done energy.
Sarah- Senior Lead Instructor (Leisure and Corporate)
Sarah is our senior lead instructor of all things leisure and corporate. From the organising and planning of your adventurous experiences to being on the ground facilitating the activities Sarah is on it. Along with keeping our social media up to date with the latest trends and exciting outdoor content.
Sarah has been working in the outdoor industry over the last 8 years, from completing outdoor leadership at College in Norwich, to completing her degree in Outdoor Adventure and Environmental studies in Cumbria, then onto working 11 months instructing in New Zealand. Sarah has come back to her Norfolk roots at Bush Adventures UK C.I.C. to help facilitate outdoor experiences to help put a smile on as many people as possible.
Dan- Senior Lead Instructor (Alternative Educational Services)
Dan is the Senior Lead Instructor for Bush Adventures Education Services. He oversees the day-to-day running of our programs, manages incident reporting, leads morning briefings, and ensures staffing levels are always appropriate to keep the young people we support safe.
With over 25 years of experience in outdoor education, Dan was born without his left hand and forearm—but this has never held him back. Instead, he uses his experience to inspire others.
“It’s ability, not disability, that matters.”
Maria- Head Ranger
Maria is our head ranger, in charge of all our sites across Thetford. She is our mother hen taking care of our facilities, environments and team. Maria is a highly experienced forager and bush crafter and has worked in the SEND education sector for over 30 years.
She's passionate about protecting our natural environment and ecosystems. Best described as the "mad woman in the woods" as quoted by herself.
Non Executive Directors
A Non-Executive Director offers independent guidance without being part of the daily operational running of things. They join the board to help shape plans, make sure everything is run properly, and keep the organisation true to its main goal: making adventure, learning, development, and outdoor experiences open and available to everyone, whatever their background. They also help meet all the legal rules for CICs, bring in new ideas and expertise, and make sure the group stays open, honest and always focused on doing good for the community.
Andy
Andy is a Marketing Director with extensive experience both in B2C and B2B retail sectors including PGL.
He has delivered profitable growth in competitive markets through devising and delivering strategic plans that included blended, innovative and business transforming digital and multi- channel marketing.
He has also managed significant marketing budgets and teams, with direct accountability to demanding shareholders. Outside of work, Andy is a big music fan and enjoys attending live music events and listening to his ever expanding vinyl collection!
Diane
Diane is an experienced primary school teacher and has worked in various schools across Norfolk and Suffolk. She has held several senior leadership positions including deputy head and headteacher.
Diane became a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) because she is passionate about helping children to achieve their full potential and tailoring the provision to meet the needs of the child. Diane held the position of a Trust SENDCo and became involved with Bush Adventures when searching for a high-quality alternative provider to work with young people who needed bespoke support. She now works as a SEND Adviser supporting schools with developing inclusion.
She has a registered Pets as Therapy dog, who loves supporting children when they are overwhelmed, helping them to calm and re-engage. Diane enjoys travelling and exploring new places.
